April 28, 2003:

Rather than explain it every week, here's a list of frequently asked voting questions. If you intend to vote, it wouldn't hurt to browse this.

Q: How do I vote?
A: Take the names of the nominees (not the entire quotes) in the weekly email, and list them in order of favorite to least favorite. List as many or as few of the nominees as you wish. Number your list. Use the names given (i.e. don't change "Orlin" to "Ben Orlin"). Differentiate between multiple quotes from the same person with parenthetical statements. Use parenthetical statements only when needed.

Q: Why all the rules?
A: I'm counting 20+ ballots by hand every week, and it's easier if there's some regularity. Listing multiple choices also helps me avoid ties and make sure the best quote always wins.

Q: Do I have to vote?
A: Nobody's holding a gun to your head, but it's half the fun of QOTW.

Q: What if I only want to vote for my favorite?
A: Then vote for just your favorite: say "1. Favorite Person".

Q: What would a sample ballot look like?
A: Something like this:

1. Orlin (Bob Dylan)
2. Walsh
3. Miller
4. Copans
5. Orlin (nanites)
5. Mr. Conolly

or this

1. Copans

Q: I heard something that should be a QOTW!
A: Nominations via email or in person are always accepted.
